High school basketball roundup: Joseph boys win, girls lose in Umatilla County

ATHENA — In a battle of 1A versus 2A, the Joseph girls basketball team had a few problems finding the basket, falling to the 2A Weston-McEwen TigerScots, 35-5, on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The game marked the third straight loss for Joseph (0-3 overall).

Joseph will attempt to find that first victory as the team travels to North Powder starting Dec. 8 to participate in the Calvin Hiatt Memorial Tournament. The Eagles are scheduled to open the tournament against Adrian (0-2 overall). Game time is 7 p.m.

WESTON-McEWEN 66, JOSEPH 56
ATHENA — After a 3-0 start to the year, Joseph experienced its first loss of the season, falling to 2A Weston-McEwen, 66-56, on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Weston-McEwen High School.

Joseph looks to rebound from the loss with a weekend trip to the Calvin Hiatt Memorial Tournament in North Powder. The Eagles open the tournament with a game against Adrian (1-1 overall) on Dec. 8. Game time is scheduled for a late 8:30 p.m. start.
