High school volleyball: Eagles state run comes to an end

MEDFORD — The upset run towards a state 1A volleyball title for the Joseph Eagles came to an end on Saturday, Oct. 29, as the Rogue Valley Adventist Academy downed the Eagles 3-0 in second-round action of the state playoffs.
The Red Tail Hawks won the first set, 25-18, and cruised in the second set, 25-15. Joseph came close to pushing the match to a fourth set but fell in the third set by the close score of 25-23.

The loss ends a run for Joseph after entering the tournament as the 21st seed and taking the upset win in round one by downing 12th seed Trinity Lutheran, 3-1.
Joseph closes out the season with a 15-14 overall record and a 6-4 1A Old Oregon League record. The Eagles finished the season third in the league standings.
The Eagles will take the court next season without only three seniors as McKenzie Keffer, Maggie Miller and Molly Curry will depart after taking the graduation walk. Six Eagles will return to a senior heavy team next year.
