ENTERPRISE — New Age Phonograph — the duo of Randi Mueck and Matt Nolan — are playing in Enterprise for the first time on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Their show starts at 7 p.m. at Range Rider, 107 NW First St.
The band is based in Myrtle Creek. The couple met at a karaoke night and launched the band in 2017. They started playing folk, and have moved into more blues rock.
“It’s been evolving into what it is now,” Nolan said.
Their musical background isn’t the same — Mueck never expected to play music as a job.
“I really didn’t like getting up in front of people,” she said.
But music was always Nolan’s plan.
“It’s been my dream ever since I was 14 years old,” he said. “You never know how things are going to work out.”
After meeting at karaoke, she started managing his music gigs. Then Nolan taught her to play bass.
“I would teach her single notes and one scale — the blues scale,” he said.
Then she started writing her own parts, followed by her own songs.
They’ve been together for eight years, and married since 2023. Their first album, in 2022, was titled “Devil by Midnight.” Their newest album is “The Old Ball and Chain.”
“Marriage and the blues go so well together,” Mueck said with a laugh.
The album cover is from their wedding — when it poured rain.
“They say rain is a blessing — we got really blessed,” Nolan said. “But it didn’t work well for photos.”
Their shows are a mixture of originals and covers, including some new songs — with a twist.
“We break it down to its bluesy roots,” Nolan said.
