Eagle hoopsters stay home; EHS, Wallowa hit the road

Local high school boys and girls basketball season begins this coming weekend with the Joseph Eagles drawing the stay at home card against the Riverside Pirates on Friday. Junior varsity play is scheduled to begins at 1 p.m.

Enterprise will begin its season Friday and Saturday in a four team tournament held in Ione. Also playing in the tournament along with the host squad will be Mac Hi of Milton-Freewater and Umatilla High School. The Enterprise girls are scheduled to play Umatilla at 6 p.m. Friday and the boys to play Ione at 7:30 p.m.

Wallowa will open its season at Pine-Eagle on Friday, then travel to Weston-McEwen at Athena on Saturday. Junior varsity play begins at 1 p.m. both days.

On Dec. 13 and 14 Enterprise will host a four team tournament with Wallowa, Ione and Wheeler County. The Wallowa and Ione girls will begin that tournament at 3 p.m. that Friday. During the same two days junior varsity boys and girls tournaments will be held in Wallowa.

Wallowa’s first home varsity encounter of the season will be Dec. 20 against the Baker City JV.
