Enterprise city councilors have determined to repair the city hall and fire hall roofs and will hold a public hearing 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11 to explain the scope of work and solicit proposals from contractors.
Rather than engaging in a competitive bidding process, the city will request proposals.

The city will seek funding after proposals have been reviewed, according to City Administrator Michele Young.
“At this point we really don’t know what it would cost to have the work done,” she said. “Our engineer, Ralph Swinehart, gave us some estimates on various repairs and it ranges from $125,000 to $250,000.”
Swinehart and City Attorney Roland Johnson are creating a contract document to present at the meeting. The roofs of both the City Hall and Fire Hall will be replaced and remediation will be done in the attic above the City Hall offices.
Two thirds of the roof of the old building had asbestos findings when tested, but all of the asbestos was in a form that was contained, “non-friable,” so a general contractor can handle the disposal provided he follows all safety rules, Swinehart said.
