EHS men win Baker meet

Powered in part by Micah Fuller’s throws and Kaden Lathrop’s jumps, the Enterprise men’s track and field team, which also includes athletes from Wallowa, outscored 10 other men’s squads to finish first at the Baker Relays, Friday, April 10, at Baker City.

The Enterprise men tallied 106 points, besting second-place La Grande, which had 93.83. On the women’s side, meanwhile, the Lady Outlaws scored 54.5 points, good for sixth place among 10 women’s teams.

For the Enterprise men, Fuller finished first in both the shot put (43’4”) and discus (137’8”), and was fourth in the javelin (143’9”). Lathrop won the high jump (5’10”), was second in the triple jump (40’1.75”), and won the 110m hurdles (18.11).

Other strong individual performances came from Chandler Burns (2nd in long jump, 18’4.5”), Nathan Perren (second in 300m hurdles, 46.89), Daniel Kohlhepp (3rd in discus, 123’1”), and Ermano Laici (4th in 300m hurdles, 49.99).

Individual leaders for the Lady Outlaws included Stacy Douglass (1st in 100m hurdles, 18.35), Sarah Madsen (2nd in high jump, 4’8”), and Jolene Ginther (3rd in javelin, 101’6”).

The Enterprise women had a second-place 4×400 relay team and a second-place sprint medley foursome, while the Enterprise men took thirds in the 4×100 and 4×400.

A much smaller group of Enterprise athletes traveled to Stanfield on Saturday, April 11, for the Dick Horyna Invitational meet at Stanfield Secondary School. Top performances there came from freshman Eliza Irish, who finished first in the 800 meters in 2:41.79, and junior Dawn Mist Movich-Fields, second in the 1500 meters at 5:22.89.
