Sajonia shoots two under par

ENTERPRISE Senior Cole Sajonia shot the best score at the Nixyaawii Invitational, needing only 70 strokes to complete Wildhorse Resort & Casino Golf Course in Pendleton on April 22. Sajonia edged Wallowa High Schools Pierce Millar by seven strokes for the individual crown, and led the Enterprise High boys team to second place.
The Enterprise varsity accumulated 362 shots, only three over first-place Heppner on a cool and mostly sunny afternoon.

Sajonias score was two under par. An eagle on the fifth hole highlighted his card. He also birdied four holes, and parred 10. At the end of the front nine, Sajonia was in first place, six shots under Heppners Axel Lofgren, who ended the day in third place.
Senior Carson Makin led the other Enterprise boys. He wound up shooting a 91, including par at three holes. Sophomore Dakota Jenkins shot a 98, with par twice. Junior Brock Hayess 103, with three pars, rounded out the varsity team score.
Enterprise freshman Cody Hopkins also played the tournament, finishing the course one shot behind Hayes. Hopkins parred a hole.
Meanwhile, a couple of freshmen led the Enterprise girls. McKenna Miller needed only 122 strokes to complete Wildhorse, while Hayley Riggs finished only one shot behind her. Riggs shot par on two holes.
The girls team combined to post a 517. Sophomore Jill Morton shot a 132, and junior Hannah McCarthy added her 140.
Lenika Rauer, a foreign exchange student at Enterprise from Germany, finished the course with 147 strokes.

Next, Enterprise will host a tournament on April 29 at Alpine Meadows Golf Course. Tee time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
