Wallowa County is home to many art galleries. Most are in Joseph, which has a reputation as an arts destination. Its Main Street is an open-air bronze art gallery, populated by world-class sculptures

Aspen Grove Gallery
602 N. Main St.; 541 432-9555, www.aspengrovegallery.com, highlights the fine original oil and watercolor art paintings of husband and wife artists Mark Kortnik and Carol McLaughlin, who are inspired by the scenery of Wallowa County. It also carries the work of eight other artists, with bronze, glass, oils and pottery, and is an authorized Greenwich Workshop print dealer. Custom framing is a specialty.
Stewart Jones Designs
2 S. Main St., Joseph, 541-432-5202 (formerly the Indigo Gallery). Jewelry designer Stewart Jones works at his shop. He is a winner of the most prestigious award in jewelry-making, the DeBeers Diamonds International Design Award. He specializes in gold and platinum.
Kelly’s Gallery on Main

The Sheep Shed

Uptown Art
18 S. Main St.; 541-432-0203; offers the original work of several local artists and photographers, as well as prints, custom or ready-made frames, gift items and furniture by local artist Steve Arment.
Valley Bronze Gallery
(Next door to Uptown Art), 541-432-7445, www.valleybronze.com; showcases bronze sculptures cast by the Valley Bronze of Oregon foundry in Joseph.
Skylight Gallery
107 E. Main St., Enterprise, 541-426-3351; the oldest gallery in Wallowa County, tucked in the back of The Bookloft book store, features the work of local artists in numerous media, including photography, pottery, glass, fiber and jewelry.
