Letter: A call to action
Published 2:51 am Tuesday, March 11, 2025
This letter is a call to action for all those who are dedicated to the health and vitality of our communities, especially those who may have doubts about the direction of our newly elected administration.
Many of you worry that recent executive orders may not align with our shared values or the proposed policies will harm those you care about. Some are concerned about job losses, cuts to education and the impact of policies that feel out of step with our needs. However, you have the power to use your voice.
Here’s how you can make your voice heard:
1. Contact your elected officials — Reach out to your local, state and federal representatives. Use tools such as USA.gov to find their contact information and make your voice heard.
2. Start conversations — Talk with family, friends and colleagues about the issues that matter. By sharing our thoughts and concerns, we engage in a powerful exchange of ideas that strengthens our community’s commitment to shared values.
3. Take public action — If you feel called to do more, write an editorial, make a public comment or join efforts that support those impacted by current policies. Your voice can inspire others and drive change.
Speaking out isn’t always easy, but it is essential. Your voice is a powerful tool — don’t underestimate its impact. Be brave. Be empowered. Be heard. Silence in the face of disagreement is complicity. Our communities are built by citizens who are willing to step up. If you are concerned, now is the time to act. Our democracy depends on you.
