Letter to the editor teaser

When Jonas Salk invented and discovered the polio vaccine, he didn’t seek a patent or profit from it. Instead, he said, it was for all mankind.

The world we live in today is all about profit, power and money. We have got so out of line from what we are here to do on Earth and beyond. Profiteers like Donald Trump, Elon Musk and others have done well and contributed to this world but are asking enormous profits in return. Some politicians would have rationed the COVID vaccine in recent years so that it only went to people of their liking.

We need more people who give until it hurts, to be more humanitarian, to be more focused on the progress of mankind for future development and to overcome the enormous problems we face.

Profit is fine until unlimited amounts of money end up into a few hands which no one individual deserves or could possibly need. We must go back to “love it and leave it for others,” not to take and hoard all the money which ends up into a few hands and used for unlimited power for one individual. Let’s get back to a more humane and just society, both qualities that are extremely lacking in today’s world.
