Outlaw track team starts busy weekend at Big Cats

STANFIELD — The combined team of Enterprise and Wallowa track and field team kicked off two days of competition with a trip to Stanfield for the Big Cats Invite on Friday, April 12.
Both the boys and girls for the Outlaws finished second in the team scoring behind the host Stanfield/Echo Tigers.

For the girls, Enterprise/Wallowa ended the day with 170 points while the Tiger girls scored 208 points.
Posting her best time of the season to date, sophomore Mercy Peters was the quickest sprinter in the 100 meters, crossing the line in 14.11 seconds. Fellow sophomore Owyhee Harguess also claimed a top spot as the Outlaw is close to breaking the 1-minute mark in the 400 meters, winning in a time of 1 minute, 0.02 seconds.
Freshman Kyra Brown continues to upstage opponents, winning the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 33.06 seconds. Junior Nevaeh James was a double winner for the day, taking the tape in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. James also teamed with Peters, McKenzie Harguess and Owyhee Harguess to win the 4-by-100 relay in a time of 51.83 seconds. The Harguess girls, James and Zoe Hermens teamed up to win the 4-by-400 relay race.
Freshman Emily Aase posted a leap of 14 feet, 8.5 inches on the long jump for the winning leap of the day.
For the boys, Enterprise ended the day with 200 points, 29.5 points behind Stanfield/Echo.
The Outlaws dominated the sprint events with senior Ransom Peters (11.92 seconds) winning the 100, freshman Emrys Hobbs (24.04 seconds) winning the 200 and junior Andrew Nordtvedt (55.37 seconds) winning the 400 meters.

Like the girls, the Outlaw boys won both relay events. Peters, Nordtvedt, Hobbs and junior Mali Wilson combined for a winning time of 46.19 seconds in the 4-by-100 relay while Peters, Nordtvedt, Hobbs and junior Owen Cunningham posted a winning time of 3 minutes, 43.47 seconds in the 4-by-400 relay.
Vincent Finlayson’s throw of 108 feet in the javelin was tops for the day. Sophomore Ezra Storlie won the triple jump with a personal record of 38 feet, 2 inches.
