Girls basketball: Eagles fly to win over Elgin

JOSEPH — The Joseph girls basketball team earned a 46-37 victory over Elgin on Tuesday, Dec. 12, breaking a three-game loss streak.

The game saw a slow start for both teams with the score tied 6-6 after the initial eight minutes. Joseph started to find the net in the second quarter, scoring 13 points while the Huskies managed only eight points to trail at the half, 14-19.

After a lackluster third quarter for both teams, both squads finished the game strong with identical 16-point fourth quarters.

The Eagles saw 16 points from Aimee Meyers to lead all scorers. Caleigh Johnson added seven points.

Joseph (3-4 overall) returns to action on Thursday, but with a home game versus 2A Weston-McEwen (4-1 overall) with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
