Boys basketball: Outlaws boost record to 7-0 at Hiatt tourney

POWDER VALLEY – The Enterprise boys basketball team boosted its record to a perfect 7-0 mark with a pair of weekend wins at the Calvin Hiatt Invitational at Powder Valley High School.

The Outlaws opened the tournament with a 75-39 win over Jordan Valley on Friday, Dec. 8.

The team closed out its 2-0 performance at the tournament on Saturday, Dec. 9, with a 61-46 win over the Panthers of Prairie City/Burnt River.

Jordan Valley now is 1-2 on the season; Prairie River is 3-2.

The two wins came on the heels of a 60-22 win over Alsea on Thursday, Dec. 7 in the Outlaw gym.

That game marks the third time Enterprise has held opponents under 30 points.

The Outlaws picked up their fourth win of the year with a 46-30 victory over Joseph on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in the Eagle gym.

Team and individual statistics were not provided for any of these games.

Enterprise will continue with tournament play on Thursday, Dec. 14 with a trip to Union to take part in the Bobcat Classic.

The Outlaws open tournament play with a 7:30 p.m. game Thursday against host Union. The Friday matchup sees the Outlaws playing against Elgin at 4:30 p.m. And Enterprise wraps up the tournament on Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. game against Harper Charter.

Joseph wins twice at HiattPOWDER VALLEY — The Joseph boys basketball team ended play at the Calvin Hiatt Invitational with two wins after dropping its first game in tournament action.

Joseph started the tournament with a loss after the Adrian Antelopes downed the Eagles 42-30 on Thursday, Dec. 7 in the gym of Powder Valley High School.

The team rebounded on Friday, Dec. 8 with a 45-29 win over the junior varsity team of La Grande.

Closing out the tournament on Saturday, Dec. 9, the Eagles grabbed a 55-30 victory over Jordan Valley.

Team and individual statistics for the games were not available.

Joseph (2-4 overall) attempted to build on its two-game win streak with a game on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with a home game versus the Elgin Huskies (2-2 overall). That game tipped off after the Chieftain’s press time.

Wallowa claims first winWALLOWA – Fans of Wallowa boys basketball had reason to celebrate as the Cougars downed visiting Alsea 41-24 on Saturday, Dec. 9, for their first victory of the season.

The nonleague win marked the end of the five-game loss streak for Wallowa.

No team or individual statistics were provided for the game.

Wallowa (1-5 overall) was looking to make it two in a row on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with a trip to Echo to take on the Cougars (2-2 overall).

Alsea, a Benton County team on a weekend swing through Northeast Oregon, ended the trip winless and now is 0-6 overall.
