Joseph Charter High School gym catches fire

The light at the end of the tunnel: The road to recovery is long, but ends in light from the fire that decimated Sather Court, the Joseph Charter School gym, on Thursday, Jan. 16.

A fire that apparently started in the mechanical room in the Joseph Charter School gym damaged the main Joseph Charter School gym early this afternoon. Fire and emergency units from Joseph and Enterprise responded; Wallowa Fire Department was kept on standby in Enterprise. All students and staff were evacuated to the Joseph Community Center, and parents were notified via texts and phone to pick up their students. There were no known injuries. “The fire trucks and emergency responders got there really fast, said Christina Eaves, who works in the school cafeteria. “But it got really smokey inside the school.” ADDITIONAL DETAILS WILL BE FORTHCOMING.
