Laying the cornerstone. (1922)

When the cornerstone of the great new E.M. & M. company building was laid, in the early days of the world war, G.W. Hyatt and family gathered on the spot for an informal dedication. The picture shows them as they stood there, Mr. and Mrs. Hyatt and their sons, Weldon and Robert. The world has gone thru the convulsions of the war since that day; business conditions have changed in America and in Wallowa county, and the boys have grown. Thru all the changes, Mr. Hyatt has held to his purpose, and this week the retail stores of the company over which he presides have moved into the nearly completed structure. No other town the size of Enterprise in the northwest has such a monumental retail establishment and the whole community joins in congratulating Mr. Hyatt and in whishing him great prosperity.
