LA GRANDE — Eastern Oregon University will be a stop on the Oregon Legislature’s Joint Ways and Means Roadshow Hearing.
The Joint Ways and Mean Committee is the state’s primary budget setting body. During long legislative sessions, the committee travels across Oregon to hear directly from residents on funding needs. Eastern Oregon residents can address state lawmakers on Friday, April 11, 5-7 p.m. about 2025-27 state budget priorities.
“Having the Oregon Legislature’s budget committee visit EOU is an incredible opportunity to amplify our region’s needs and ensure that rural Oregon — and our higher education institutions — are part of the budget conversation,” Vice President for University Advancement Tim Seydel said.
Eastern, along with Oregon’s six other public universities, has identified key funding priorities that will help the school continue to serve rural Oregon, according to public information representative Michael Dakota.
The university is encouraging students, employees and residents to advocate for investments in higher education, rural communities and key priorities affecting Eastern Oregon.
“We encourage students, faculty, staff and community members to attend, show support and provide testimony,” Seydel said.
Advanced registration is encouraged for anyone who would live to provide testimony. Those looking to register can do so online at tinyurl.com/576ybm9x.
