Commissioners to hear update on weed control, land donation

ENTERPRISE — An update on weed control efforts and a possible land donation for the East Moraine Community Forest will go before the Wallowa County Board of Commissioners at its meeting Wednesday, March 19.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the Thornton Conference Room of the courthouse at 101 S. River St. in Enterprise. Andy Marcum, manager of the county’s vegetation department, will give the annual update on weed control efforts in the county.
The commissioners also will consider a land donation of more than 33 acres from the Wallowa Land Trust adjacent to the East Moraine Community Forest.
In other business, the commissioners will:
• Consider the initiation of a grant application from the state Criminal Justice Commission for the county’s Drug and Alcohol Treatment Court. It will be sought by grants manager Caprice Locke.
• Hear a request for funding from Janis Carper of the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance. She’ll request $2,500 each for the Courthouse Concert Series and for the Juniper Jam.
• Appoint a budget officer for the county.
• Appoint a budget officer for the county’s Road Service District.
• Appoint a budget officer for the Wallowa Lake County Service District.
• Appoint members to the Wallowa County Compensation Board.
