JOSEPH — The annual Youth Arts Festival will be held at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture in Joseph from April 12-21 to showcase art from local young people.

The center is at 403 Main St.

This celebration of creativity and youth talent also will provide hands-on activities and feature live music from young local performers, according to a press release from the center.

Initiated in 1989 by local photographer Dories Woempner, the festival is sponsored by the Wallowa Valley Arts Council. There were more than 200 entries in 2024.

Volunteers are needed to help sort and hang artwork April 9 and 10. To sign up, contact Dionne Vale at programs@josephy.org or call 541-432-0505, ext. 2.

The festival will feature a youth open mic performance on April 12 from 1-3 p.m. Performers are urged to share their talent either solo or with a group to express themselves through music, spoken word, comedy, dance or any other form of creative performance. Sign-up begins at noon April 12 at the center.

Art drop-off is April 8 from 2-4 p.m. The opening reception will be April 12 from noon to 4 p.m. Artists may pick up their works April 21 from 2-4 p.m.
