ENTERPRISE — The Enterprise Police Department on Feb. 1 arrested Tami Monique Nuxall on several counts and booked her into the Union County Jail in La Grande.

Police arrested Nuxall for driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), reckless endangering and contempt of court.

Nuxall has a history of conflict with the Enterprise police and has asked the city council to establish an oversight board to govern the circumstances under which police may brandish their firearms. At issue was an incident that occurred Aug. 14, 2023, during which Nuxall said police officer Jacob Curtis pulled his sidearm and pointed it at her and children who were with her.

She contacted Police Chief Kevin McQuead about the incident the next day, and McQuead defended Curtis’ actions, saying the officer’s weapon was out for a short time and mostly at the “low-ready” position. McQuead told Nuxall that, in his view, Curtis’ actions were appropriate.

The city council determined at the time the Police Committee was sufficient as an oversight board.
