Woodcarving, ceramics classes planned

JOSEPH — Hands-on art classes will be held in February at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture in Joseph, according to a press release.

The center is at 403 N. Main St. in Joseph.

Steve Arment will hold a series called Discover the Magic of Wood Carving from Feb. 5-26.

The classes will be held Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the center.

The classes are appropriate for anyone 14 or older, beginners and experienced carvers alike.

Cost is $140. Tools will be provided.

Cheryl North Coughlan will teach Hand-Building Mugs and More. The class has a “Hearts & Love” theme and will have a build day Friday, Feb. 7, from 3-5 p.m. Glaze day will be a week later, Feb. 14, also from 3-5 p.m., or Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Participants may create unique clay projects “inspired by love,” according to the release. The class is suitable for all skill levels.

Cost is $50 for the two-day class.

Another two-day ceramics class will be held on Tuesdays, Feb. 11 and 25, from 5:30-8 p.m. The first day will be build day and the second day will be for glazing.

Participants are urged to bring their ideas to life with personalized projects, anything from piggy banks to planters to bird feeders and more.

Cost is $65 for the two-day class.

Preregistration is required for all classes, as space is limited. Sign-ups close 48 hours prior to the start of classes.
