JOSEPH — The deadline for submitting art for the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture’s 2025 Women’s Exhibit is fast approaching.
“Horizon Lines” will be the theme of the show, which opens Feb. 28 at the center, 403 N. Main St. in Joseph, with an opening reception from 7-9 p.m.
The submission deadline is midnight Jan. 27. Visit https://josephy.org/artist-application/ to submit artwork. Artists may submit up to three digital images. All works must be for sale. Artists receive 60% of the sales, and the gallery retains 40% commission. Unsold works may be picked up April. 7 between noon and 4 p.m.
There is a $10 entry fee per piece, except for youth entries, which are free.
The exhibit will run through April 5.
This exhibit invites artists to explore the concept of horizons — both literal and metaphorical. Horizons can represent boundaries, possibilities, or the edge of the unknown. They symbolize distance, perspective, and the interplay between what is visible and what lies beyond.
It will be curated and judged by Silje Harlander, a Wallowa County native and multimedia artist, graphic designer, and former river guide. She owns and operates Steep Creek Studio. Harlander believes Wallowa County has some of the coolest and strongest women who are comfortable in women-focused spaces.
Awards for the exhibit are first place: $250, second place: $150, third place: $100, People’s Choice: $50, Honorable Mention: $25 and Best Young Artist: $25.
