ENTERPRISE — Six Wallowa County kids sank buckets accurately enough to win the opportunity to participate in the East District Elks Hoop Shoot Competition at John Day.

The Wallowa County Elks Hoop Shoot was Dec. 11 at Enterprise High School. The district shoot will be Jan. 11 at Grant Union High School in John Day.

Boys and girls in each of three age categories were deemed winners.

• At the 8-to-9-year-old level were Ethan Mahon and Chloe Tippett.

• At the 10-to-11-year-old level were Roman Crawford and Kora Jackson.

• At the 12-to-13-year-old level were Hayden Woods and Paizly Grover.

If any of these competitors win at John Day, they can advance to the state competition, then to the regional competition in the Tri-Cities and then to Chicago for the national hoop shoot.

“It’s going to involve every town that has an Elks lodge from Bend to the Idaho border,” said Randy Morgan of the Enterprise Elks. “That’s the East District, and it’s quite an honor.”
