Enterprise community members go through the serving line to get their Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 28, 2024, at Cloverleaf Hall in Enterprise.

ENTERPRISE — About 120 people were served a free Thanksgiving dinner Thursday, Nov. 28, at the Cloverleaf Hall in Enterprise.

This year’s meal was organized by the Joseph Charter School chapter of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA, formerly known as the Future Homemakers of America,) headed up by the chapter’s junior high representative, Kallie Michaelson.

Kallie, 13, received lots of help from about two dozen volunteers in the kitchen and dining area, but said the project still left a bit overwhelmed at times.

“A little bit, but I’ve grown up around (the community Thanskgiving meal) and my family helped,” she said. “My grandma did most of the cooking and grandpa was there for all of it.”

Kallie also said that Kelsey Juve did a major portion of the cooking.

After Kallie greeted everyone and wished them a blessed Thanksgiving, Pastor Moose McKinney of the Enterprise Nazarene Church asked the Lord’s blessing on the food and all who helped prepare it.

Fare included five turkeys, 40-50 pounds of potatoes, about 3 gallons of gravy, three large pans of stuffing, corn, salads and about 15 dozen homemade rolls volunteers brought. The salads and desserts also were brought by volunteers.

Kallie said she’ll probably be involved in the community Thanksgiving dinner next year, too.

“I was really happy with it and with people seeming to enjoy themselves,” she said. “We didn’t have a lot of extra food, so it went really well.”
