Letter to the editor: What will happen if we vote for Trump?

I suppose some Americans are thinking that they have to elect a president who has led a coup against our government, stolen top-secret records, vows to make retribution against those who disagree with him, has been found liable for sexual abuse and is convicted of cheating on his taxes. Do they really believe that he will lower their taxes, pay the national debt and improve the national economy?
Even if he could do those things for the wealthy people, would the trade-off be worth it? Will it be worth it when, as Donald Trump says, we won’t need to vote when he is reelected? Will it be worth it when a few people tell us what we can read, who we can love, and what we can do with our bodies? Will it be OK when the government can tell us how we can or must worship?
I guess we will find out if Trump is elected president again. But, if we vote for an autocracy, can we ever go back to voting for our government again? Could we ever have our rights again?
This year we are voting for our future.
