ENTERPRISE — Outlaw football lineman and senior John Jannuzzi no longer is an alternate for the East Squad at the Oregon East-West Shrine All-Star Football Game: He’s made the roster for the Saturday, July 27 game.

Jannuzzi was announced in April as an alternate for the annual game, which pits seniors representing the east side of the state versus seniors from the west portion of the state in Baker City.

But this week, the Outlaw got word to prepare to pack for Baker City for the game. Another offensive lineman selected for the East Squad was unable to attend.

Alternates are frequently called upon to play in Baker to fill in for other players who cannot make the game.

Thirty players were originally named to the east roster, with Jannuzzi joining 29 alternates.

This year’s game will be played at Bulldog Memorial Stadium in Baker City. The game, first played in 1952, has raised over $5 million in support of the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Portland.
