- Letter to the editor teaser
My name is Jordan Miller and I am writing this letter to give my sincerest apologies for taking away from the beauty of Wallowa County’s wilderness.
In November 2023 I accompanied my friends on a controlled hunt in order to help pack out any meat harvested from a possible spike elk. Unfortunately, we were not able to secure an elk, so it turned into more of a camping trip. Due to camping out for multiple days we produced a significant amount of trash. It was raining consistently and our campsite was flooded out. We decided to call off the trip early and pack up everything to leave.
During the process of packing up I made the irresponsible decision to not pick up the trash that was around our campsite. I was being lazy because it was dark and rainy, which is no excuse; nevertheless I regret my actions greatly.
I would like the citizens of Wallowa County to know that I am sorry for my actions. I am aware that it was not right for me to tarnish the beautiful land that you all call home. I will be going back to the campsite to diligently clean up every piece of trash that was left behind. I would also like it to be known that in the future when I am in the wilderness or anywhere for that matter, I will clean up after myself. Thank you for taking time to read my apology.
Jordan Miller
