Tingelstad earns scholar-athlete honor

- Ellyse Tingelstad, a graduate of Joseph Charter Scool, has been named the 2023-24 Cascade Collegiate Conference U.S. Bank Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
CALDWELL, ID – Former Joseph Charter School cross-country runner and current College of Idaho star Ellyse Tingelstad was recently named the 2023-24 Cascade Collegiate Conference U.S. Bank Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The conference’s athletic directors voted for Tingelstad after she led the Yotes to a conference and national cross-country title while also holding a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The former Eagle is currently the eighth fastest 10,000-meter runner in the country and earned three individual titles during the season. Tingelstad won both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter championship at this year’s Cascade Collegiate Conference championship.
Tingelstad was named the conference Athlete of the Week four times and was named the NAIA Runner of the Week as well as being named the West Region Women’s Runner of the Year.
Academically, Tingelstad, an environmental science major, was a CCC Academic All-Conference and a NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete.
“Elly has had her fair share of success in running, but her academic accolades are equally impressive,” said Dominic Bolin, the College of Idaho’s cross-country and track and field coach. “We are incredibly proud of all her accomplishments and her winning this honor is well-deserved.”
