Baseball, softball teams to wrap up regular season

The Wallowa Valley baseball and softball teams wrap up their regular seasons this week, and both seem to be headed for postseason play.

The district-leading Eagle baseball team (18-3 overall, 11-1 in 3A Special District 3 play) took care of business on Friday, May 10, with a sweep of visiting Nyssa/Adrian. The Eagles won the opener, 12-1, and then edged the Bulldogs, 5-4, in the second game.

The Eagles now have won six games in a row.

The team was scheduled for a nonleague game Tuesday, May 14 at La Grande and wraps up its regular season with a nonleague game on Thursday, May 16. First pitch in that game is set for 5 p.m. Mountain.

The Outlaw softball team (18-6 overall, 9-3 in district play) now sits in second place in 3A Special District 4 behind Burns/Crane. The Outlaws extended their winning streak to five with a pair of victories at home against Nyssa on Friday, May 10; the team posted a 5-3 win in the opener and then rolled to an 11-2 win in the second game.

The Outlaws were scheduled to play at home Tuesday, May 14 against Elgin/Imbler and will wrap up the regular season with another nonleague game at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at La Grande.
