Eagles open district play with two wins

VALE — The Wallowa Valley baseball team opened the defense of its 3A Special District 3 championship with a pair of wins on the road in Vale on Friday, April 12.
After playing to an opening 7-2 record in nonleague play, the Eagles were on the road to face the Vikings.

The Eagles, a combined team from Joseph, Enterprise and Wallowa high schools, opened with a 5-2 victory.
After a break, the Eagles made the day a sweep with a 5-2 win over the Vikings.
The Eagles (9-2 overall, 2-0 3A Special District 3) continue with both district and road games on Friday, April 19 with two games versus the Pioneers in McLoughlin (6-7 overall, 2-0 3A Special District 3).
McLoughlin claimed a pair of district wins with victories over Umatilla, 8-6 and 19-4.
Early in the district season, the Eagles sit atop the district standings, followed by Burns/Crane, with a 2-1 district record.
