Letter to the editor: Don’t use plastic in Joseph water lines

Last month, CBS, PBS, CNN warned the public to stop drinking water out of plastic water bottles. Nano-plastics have been discovered that are one-eighth the size of a red blood cell. New laser microscopes have discovered that water dissolves the inside of a plastic water bottle into our drinks. Even cans are sprayed inside with plastic before filling with soda and beer?

These small nano-plastics can be carried around the body in the bloodstream. They are deposited in your brain, your lungs, kidney, liver and tissues! The body cannot break down plastic in our tissues (plastic has a half-life of 100 years).

Great, huh? So it’s one thing to buy drinking water in glass water bottles or return to glass baby bottles! That’s possible! Plastic just shouldn’t be used for our soda, water, milk, juice or beer. Water can, after all, dissolve rocks into minerals in hard-water areas especially when it tumbles down mountains. I’m glad I know the dangers for my children’s sake and can help save them from getting plastic in their brains.

However, It’s more difficult to urge the city of Joseph to use iron or metal water pipes when they replace our metal waterlines starting this next month. Why do they insist on putting in large PVC plastic waterlines? We need replacement metal water lines. Help our babies and children.

Please urge Joseph to use metal waterlines. It’s not too late!
