JOSEPH – The state’s baseball coaches voted to drop the Wallowa Valley baseball team a few spots in the most recent poll but the squad remains a top 10 3A team.

The most recent coaches’ poll, released by the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) on Monday, April 8, has the Eagles in the 10th spot among the state’s teams.

The Wallowa Valley team, which includes players from Joseph, Enterprise and Wallowa high schools, previously was previously seventh in the polling.

Douglas and Banks are the teams to beat, according to the state’s coaches, as the two battle for the top spot.

In the OSAA’s formal rankings, the Eagles are seventh among 3A teams. Douglas leads the rankings, with Lakeview sitting in second, followed by Banks. Warrenton and Pleasant Hill fill out the top five teams.

The Eagles, 7-2 so far this year, hit the road again Friday, April 12 for a double-header at Vale (3-8 overall). The first pitch is scheduled for noon Pacific time, 1 p.m. Mountain time. The second game is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. Pacific, 3 p.m. Mountain.
