ENTERPRISE — Outlaw offensive lineman and senior John Jannuzzi will await a phone call from representatives of the Oregon East-West Shrine All-Star Football Game informing him to pack his bags and travel to Baker in July.

Jannuzzi was announced on Friday, April 5 as an alternate for the annual game, which pits seniors representing the east side of the state versus seniors from the west portion of the state in Baker. This year’s game is scheduled for Saturday, July 27.

As a named alternate, Jannuzzi will step up if an offensive lineman named to the east squad is unable to attend. Alternates are frequently called upon to be in Baker as those named to the roster often have religious, college or family obligations making playing impossible.

Thirty players were originally named to the east roster with Jannuzzi joining 29 other alternates on the recently released list. The game, first played in 1952, has raised over $5 million in support of the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Portland.
