Outlaw girls go 3-1 at La Grande Spring Bash

LA GRANDE – The Wallowa County softball team pushed its record to 5-2 by winning three of four games at the Union/Cove Spring Bash tournament on Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30.
Making the trip to La Grande, the Outlaws opened tournament play with a 6-3 win over 3A Warrenton to start the day. The Outlaws closed out Friday’s play with a 7-4 victory over the junior varsity team of La Grande.

On Saturday, the Outlaws absorbed just their second defeat of the season, an 11-7 loss to Union/Cove.
But the team bounced back with its biggest win thus far of the season, a 13-1 drubbing of Elgin/Imbler.
The Outlaws, carrying a No. 9 ranking from the Oregon School Activities Association, are back on the field on Tuesday, April 2 with a 2 p.m. game on the road Heppner/Ione/Condon (4-3 overall). Results of that game were unavailable at the Chieftain’s press time.
The Outlaws also have a double-header scheduled Friday, April 5 on the road against Burns/Crane (6-2 overall). Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Friday.
