Joseph runner qualifies for collegiate nationals

- Ellyse Tingelstad, a Joseph Charter School graduate who now runs for the College of Idaho, won the 5,000-meter race in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
CALDWELL, Idaho — A former star for the Wallowa County cross-country team has qualified for the NAIA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Ellyse Tingelstad is one of seven athletes headed to the national meet representing the College of Idaho Yotes.

Tingelstad qualified in two events, the 5,000-meter run and as a member of the distance medley relay team.
Local fans will remember Tingelstad, who finished fifth in the 3A/2A/1A state championship as a senior. She also finished fifth in her junior year, besting her 10th place finish as a sophomore. Tingelstad qualified for the state meet all four years of her high school running career.
The former Outlaw and the rest of her Yote teammates will compete starting Feb. 29 at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, South Dakota.
