Monday basketball: Irrigon (finally) visits Enterprise for twin bill

The Enterprise Outlaws play host to the Irrigon Knights on Monday, Jan. 22 for a pair of games that already have been canceled twice due to weather. Here’s a preview of the Monday doubleheader.

When: 5:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 22.

Records: Irrigon 1-14 overall, 0-3 2A Blue Mountain Conference; Enterprise 10-6 overall, 0-3 2A Blue Mountain Conference.

OSAA rankings: Irrigon is 35th. Enterprise is No. 19.

One of these two teams will leave the Outlaw gym with its first conference victory.

Irrigon’s lone victory this season came on Dec. 8 in nonleague play versus 1A Trout Lake.

Due to weather, the Knights have not played a game since Jan. 16 as two games have been called off.

The Outlaws are back in their home gym for the first time since Dec. 20. Enterprise looks to break a three-game skid, all being conference contests, and to stay in the top 20 in the state rankings.

Records: Irrigon 2-13 overall, 0-3 2A Blue Mountain Conference; Enterprise 10-6 overall, 3-0 2A Blue Mountain Conference.

OSAA rankings: Irrigon is 35th. Enterprise is No. 13.

The Lady Knights have struggled this season, picking up only a win over Grant Union and a second victory over a Washington team. Irrigon makes the trip to Enterprise after dropping its last two league contests, both by more than 25 points.

Meanwhile, media outlets around the state are beginning to take notice of the Outlaw girls. An upset win over Stanfield on Jan. 13 raised the Enterprise team up one spot in the state rankings and placed the Lady Outlaws on top of the conference standings.
