Wrestling: Outlaws take fifth at Oregon Classic

REDMOND — The Enterprise boys’ wrestling team is home after two days of action in Redmond, taking on teams from around the state at the Oregon Classic Duals and earning a fifth-place showing when the event ended on Saturday, Jan. 14.
Starting action in pool play, Enterprise downed Culver 45-27 in round one followed by a 63-18 win in round two over Central Linn.

Round three saw the Outlaws take down Crane 47-18 before falling in round four to Illinois Valley, 69-11.Enterprise wrapped up the pool play with a 36-26 victory over Camas Valley.
Entering Saturday’s action as the second qualifier from pool action, a lack of just a few wrestlers cost the Outlaws a quarterfinal victory. Culver and Enterprise wrestled to a 42-42 tie, with Culver taking the victory as the tie-breaker is based on the number of forfeits for each team.
Moved to the consolation bracket, Enterprise downed Nestucca in the semifinals, 42-39.
Taking the mat for the battle for fifth, the Outlaws grabbed a 42-30 win over Grant Union to wrap up the tournament.

• At 108 pounds, Barrett Bronson finished 5-3.

• Wrestling at both 128 pounds and 134 pounds, Gunner Sinclair finished 3-5.
• At 140 pounds, Shane Wenke finished 4-2.
• At 146 pounds, Pearce Schnetzky finished 5-2.
• Wrestling at both 152 pounds and 167 pounds, Tegan Evans finished 6-2.
• At 167 pounds, Ashytn Irwin finished 6-2.
• At 192 pounds, Will Ogden finished 5-3.
• At 217 pounds, Gunnar McDowell finished a perfect 8-0.
• At 287 pounds, Cade Cunningham finished a perfect 8-0.
