Girls wrestling: Joseph takes 12th at JO-HI meet

JOSEPH — Scoring 12 points for one day of action, the Joseph’s girls’ wrestling team placed 12th in the team standings as the JO-HI Tournament came to a close on Saturday, Jan. 6 in the Eagle gym.
Gwendalyn Bastedt placed fourth in the 136-147 class for the highest Eagle placement. After falling in the quarterfinals to Crane’s April Lopez, Bastedt fought her way back through the consolation bracket before falling in the battle for third place to Lopez again, this time by pin.

In the 98-106 division, Lachian Thompson finished fifth while Sarah Musia placed eighth in the 116-127 class.
Riverside was crowned team champions after compiling 93 points with Culver placing second. Union, the Idaho team Clearwater Valley and Elgin rounded out the top five team scores.
The Eagle girls next take the mat on Jan. 27, competing at the Bank of Eastern Oregon Girls Tournament.
