Wallowa High School boys and girls basketball teams both opened play Wednesday, Dec. 27, with victories at the Eastern Oregon Holiday Crossover.

The Cougar boys started their tournament off with a 48-36 victory over the Hornets of Harper Charter in Baker City.

Also meeting Harper, the Wallowa girls cruised to a 65-26 win in North Powder.

Both Wallowa teams face tougher opponents on the second day of action on Thursday, Dec. 28. The boys take the court versus 3A Burns at 5:45 p.m. at North Powder while the girls attempt to upset over the undefeated Crane Mustangs, the top team in the 1A state ranks, at 2:15 p.m. in Baker.

Enterprise teams are scheduled to enter the Crossover fray on Thursday. The boys team plays against Imbler at 2:15 p.m. at North Powder while the girls take the court against Imbler at 4 p.m. in Baker.
