Enterprise, Wallowa get set for Crossover

The presents will be unwrapped and the leftovers will be minimal by the time the Enterprise and Wallowa basketball teams join other Eastern Oregon teams at the Third Annual Eastern Oregon Holiday Basketball Crossover.
The event begins Wednesday, Dec. 27 in both the Baker High School and North Powder gyms.
The following is the schedule for the Outlaws and Cougars. Win-loss records are current as of Monday, Dec. 25.
Wednesday, Dec. 27
• Wallowa boys (2-8 overall) versus Harper boys (1-6 overall) in the Baker gym, 12:30 p.m.
• Wallowa girls (7-3 overall) versus Harper girls (1-6 overall) in the North Powder gym, 2:15 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 28
• Imbler boys (7-1 overall) versus Enterprise boys (9-2 overall) in the North Powder gym, 2:15 p.m.
• Wallowa boys (2-8 overall) versus Burns boys (8-0 overall) in the North Powder gym, 5:45 p.m.
• Wallowa girls (7-3 overall) versus Crane girls (7-0 overall) in the Baker gym, 2:15 p.m.
• Imbler girls (8-1 overall) versus Enterprise girls (7-4 overall) in the Baker gym, 4 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 29
• Prairie City/Burnt Rivers boys (3-5 overall) versus Enterprise boys (9-2 overall) in the Baker gym, 2:15 p.m.
• Prairie City/Burnt River girls (2-6 overall) versus Enterprise girls (7-4 overall) in the North Powder gym, 5:45 p.m.
Wallowa girls defeat ElginWALLOWA — Fans of Wallowa girls basketball were able to enjoy a nonleague victory from the stands as the Cougars beat Elgin 42-21 on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Wallowa started the game strong, putting in 15 points in the first quarter. The Lady Cougars slowed down some in the second quarter, but still led 23-11 at the half.
Zoe Hermens led the Cougars with 15 points, 11 of those coming in the first half. Sophie Moeller added 12 points and Abby Straight ended with 10 points.
In the loss, Elgin’s Sofie Adams put in seven points to lead the Huskies. Carly McLaughlin added five points.
Outlaw boys fall to Imbler
ENTERPRISE — The Imbler boys basketball team pushed its season record to 7-1 with a 41-31 victory over the 2A Enterprise Outlaws on Wednesday, Dec. 20 in the Enterprise gym.
Fans of the Outlaws had little to cheer for as Enterprise ended the first quarter with only a single basket by Emmett Flynn. Imbler also struggled to find the basket, scoring only nine points.
The Panthers put up 12 points in the second quarter and led the Outlaws 21-9 at the half.
Enterprise outscored Imbler in the second half, 22-20, but could not overcome the first-half scoring drought.
“We played well in the first half, just struggled to score,” said Imbler coach Tony Haddock. “Enterprise got their offense going in the second half and we had to scrap. This was a good test for us.”
Imbler’s Justin Frost put in 16 points to lead all scorers in the game. Jake Bingaman ended his night with 10 points.
For the Outlaws, Flynn had 11 points and was the only Outlaw in double figures.
Imbler edges Outlaw girlsENTERPRISE — At halftime of their game against undefeated Imbler, the Enterprise girls basketball team was down by only three points.
But the Outlaws turned cold in the third quarter, scoring just four points, allowing the Lady Panthers to escape Enterprise with a 59-42 nonleague victory on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Imbler’s 13-point outburst in the third quarter put the game out of reach
Enterprise girls were consistent in the first half, scoring 13 points in each quarter.
Enterprise was led by Alex Rowley’s 11 points followed closely by Tessa Duncan, with 10.
Imbler’s Rachael Stirewalt exploded for 25 points while Jayda Cant added 10 points.
Enterprise (7-4 overall) saw a four-game win streak come to an end with the loss to Imbler.
