Lady Cougars grab win over Elgin’s Huskies

WALLOWA — Fans of Wallowa girls basketball were able to enjoy a nonleague victory from the stands as the Cougars beat Elgin 42-21 on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Wallowa started the game strong, putting in 15 points in the first quarter. The Lady Cougars slowed down some in the second quarter, but still led 23-11 at the half.

Zoe Hermens led the Cougars with 15 points, 11 of those coming in the first half. Sophie Moeller added 12 points and Abby Straight ended with 10 points.
In the loss, Elgin’s Sofie Adams put in seven points to lead the Huskies. Carly McLaughlin added five points.
Both Wallowa (7-3 overall) and Elgin (3-6 overall) will be back on the court just two days after Christmas as the Cougars and Huskies are at Powder Valley High School for the Eastern Oregon Holiday Crossover beginning Wednesday, Dec. 27.
