Cougar girls finish tourney with win

NIXYAAWII — After falling in the team’s opening two games of the Bouncin Cancer Tournament, the Wallowa girls basketball team ended three days of play with a 58-29 victory over Pilot Rock on Saturday, Dec. 16 in the Nixyaawii gym.
“We played with a lot of energy and confidence,” said Cougar coach Greg Oveson.
The Cougars had 24 points in the first half before exploding in the third quarter for 20 points.
Sophie Moeller led all scorers in the game with 24 points. Zoe Hermens added 18 points in the victory.
Wallowa (6-3 overall) has some work to do before the holiday break as the Cougars host Elgin (3-5 overall) on Thursday, Dec. 21 with a 6:30 p.m. start.
