JOSEPH — Several new items are on the agenda for the Joseph City Council when it meets Thursday, Oct. 5, including the first reading of a sign and sidewalk ordinance.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Joseph Community Events Center. The meeting is open to the public or via Zoom, the contact information for which is available at City Call.
The council also will consider taking action on an application to fill a vacant council seat. Former Councilor Tammy Jones resigned in March and her seat has remained vacant since then. Last month, Mike Lockhart was appointed to fill a council vacancy left when longtime Councilor Matt Soots resigned.
The council also will consider grant applications for a Christmas bazaar at the community center and for a homecoming dance for Joseph Charter School.
A street-closure request for the Jingle Thru Joseph Parade to be on Saturday, Nov. 25, also is up for consideration.
Other business on Thursday’s agenda includes:
• An update on the speed zone change for the south end of Main Street.
• Details on the Christmas light contest.
• A discussion on crosswalks.
• A presentation by Anderson Perry & Associates, the engineering firm the city works with.
• Department reports.
• Tentatively scheduling the next council meeting for Nov. 2.
