Cross-country: Outlaws finish in top five at home meet

WALLOWA LAKE STATE PARK — In addition to playing the gracious hosts, the Wallowa County cross-country team also managed to pick up top five team finishes as the running of the Wallowa County Invitational came to a close on Friday, Sept. 15 at Wallowa Lake State Park.
The Outlaw boys, led by sophomore Jonah Lyman, placed third as the team, scoring 77 points. Union, with 44 points, grabbed the team title followed by Baker’s 75 points.

Lyman crossed the finish second only to Union’s Eli Williams in the race, posting a time of 17 minutes, 8.3 seconds. Junior Jett Leavitt also was a top five finisher, placing fourth with a time of 17:31.1.
The Outlaw girls placed fourth in team scores after champion La Grande and Union and Heppner.
Two sophomores, Owyhee Harguess and Abigail Hurley, put up top 10 finishes with Harguess crossing the line in sixth (a time of 21:35.9) and Hurley picking up 10th (a time of 21:59.1).
