Letter: Greater Idaho is a waste of time

The push to move Eastern Oregon into Idaho is similar to one in Arizona where some residents down there want to split that state into three new parts.
The area from the Gila River south to Old Mexico would become Baja Arizona. The northern part, including Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon and several of the native reserves, would become Alta Arizona. The area around Phoenix … Sheriff Joe’s country … would be known as Kaka Arizona.
Such large-scale changes to state borders haven’t occurred since the Civil War. Moving Oregon’s border would require the Idaho Legislature, the Oregon Legislature and the U.S. Congress all to approve the change. Obtaining those three approvals is nothing more than pissing against the wind.
The Greater Idaho movement, Arizona’s split into three parts and pushing for the State of Jefferson in northern California are all nothing but wastes of time and resources better spent on other things.
None of those changes is ever going to happen.
