Letter: County election was ‘shocking’

When conservatives lose an election, they cry foul, the election was stolen, and then spend time and effort to “prove” the election was stolen. Always the same result — the election was not stolen.

When progressives lose an election, they just walk away.

The special election in Wallowa County regarding the “Lesser Idaho” proposition is a fine good example. Voters’ identities — names, ages, party affiliation, sometimes their partial address, and their ballot status — were released into the public domain and there will be no consequences. Just imagine the reaction from the MAGAverse if the situation were reversed. Behold the sound and fury.

Had a good chuckle with County Clerk Sandy Lathrop’s comment she “was disappointed to see the names of the seven voters with rejected ballots posted to social media.” I was reminded of the scene from the movie “Casablanca,” when the police captain states he must close the bar because he is “shocked, shocked!” that there is gambling taking place. The bar employee walks up to him and states “Captain, here are your earnings.”

“Oh, thank you.”

The election for county clerk is nonpartisan; however County Clerk Lathrop is a registered Republican.

You are right, I am shocked, shocked!
