Eagle baseball splits weekend action

JOSEPH — The Joseph/Enterprise/Wallowa baseball team finished a four-game weekend with two wins and two losses after home fans were able to see two days of home action.

On Friday, April 14, the Eagles picked up a pair of 3A Special District 3 victories over the visiting Vale Vikings. Game one saw Joseph/Enterprise/Wallowa dominate Vale, winning easily in a 12-1 contest.

Game two proved to be a bit closer, with the Eagles winning 14-7 over the Vikings.

Switching to nonleague action on Saturday, April 15, the squad hosted the junior varsity team of 4A Pendleton. With the Eagle offense sputtering, the Buckaroo junior varsity took game one over the Eagles 15-3 and followed it up with a 14-2 win in game two over the Eagles.

Joseph/Enterprise/Wallowa (8-5 overall, 3-1 3A Special District 3) plays the final two games of an eight-game home stand on Friday, April 21, hosting McLoughlin (7-2 overall, 1-0 3A Special District 3) for two district games. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Eagles currently lead in the district standings and are ranked 10th in the most recent Oregon School Activities Association poll. The Pioneers sit third in the district standings and are ranked 12th.
