Fishtrap unveils two online writing workshops

ENTERPRISE — Two online workshops are planned by Fishtrap in April and May, featuring Catherine Johnson and Jensen Heike.

Johnson’s work has been published in Oregon Humanities, Hypertext, Coachella Review, Kithe, Propeller, Gulf Stream, STORGY, Portland Monthly Magazine, Nowhere Travel Magazine and is featured in the forthcoming anthology “Evergreen: Fairy Tales, Essays & Fables from the Dark Northwest.” She has an master in fine arts degree in creative nonfiction from Portland State University and was a 2021 Fishtrap Fellow. Johnson is an assistant lecturer at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.

Johnson’s workshop is titled “Unstuck: Defeating Writers’ Block, Generating New Ideas, and Making Space for Your Writing Practice.”

Her two-hour workshop sessions will be at 6 p.m. Wednesdays, April 5, 12, 19 and 26. Registration is $240, or $215 for Fishtrappers. Register at https://fishtrap.regfox.com/johnson-workshop.

Heike is a writer and freelance editor based in Bellingham, Washington, where she lives with her partner, cat and dog. Her work has appeared in Sweet Tree Review and The Wire’s Dream Magazine, among others. She is a current master of fine arts student at Eastern Oregon University and is working on her first novel. Heike’s workshops are 5-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, May 9, 16 and 23.

The title of Heike’s workshop is “When Characters Talk: Writing Dialogue.”
