Summer here in Northeastern Oregon never ceases to amaze me in terms of all thing things there are to do and place to go and see.

The summer is also the best time to enjoy what makes this area so unique. From Wallowa Lake to the Elkhorn Mountains to the Columbia River, we live in a geographic wonderland that is second to none in terms of beauty.

As readers already know, EO Media group recognizes how important and how special our area is and we realize there are lots of events going on throughout the summer months everyone can enjoy.

So, don’t forget to check out our Go! Eastern Oregon magazine, the regional weekly arts and entertainment publication our group publishes.

The magazine is one of our best methods to highlight what is going on and where and we work hard to provide this platform for our readers.

Beyond that, though, I think it is important to understand just how lucky we are in our area to live in such a beautiful area of natural resources. I like to get out when I can and enjoy the mountains or to take a trip to one of the towns across our coverage area. I think there is a rich rural tradition in our area and it is something I value every time I leave the area.

So, if you get a chance this summer get out and see the sights. We all live within driving distance of some pretty spectacular sights and if you are wondering what to do and when, don’t forget to check out our Go! Magazine.

In this week’s Chieftain, Bill Bradshaw looks at the progress being made in determining the cause of the Elbow Creek Fire a year later. Jeff Budlong talked to locals who helped actor Jack Black and his family have a good weekend in Wallowa County, and Jack Parry wrote of falling gas prices that aren’t falling as fast in the area.

As always, I want to take this opportunity to thank our subscribers for their support of the Wallowa County Chieftain. We can’t do this work without you.
