Twenty more cases, 992 for the pandemic

SALEM — The Oregon Health Authority reported 20 new cases of COVID-19 in Wallowa County among a one-day record of 10,947 in the state in its report Friday, Jan. 21. The state also reported 20 new deaths, but did not say which counties the deaths were from. For now, Wallowa County stays at 13.
The count brings Wallowa County’s total during the pandemic to 992. During the last seven days, there have been 113 cases reported in the county, and has it nearing 200 already in the month of January, which is a pandemic high for a month. Last August, there were 180 cases during the delta variant spike.
There were 38 more COVID hospitalizations in Oregon with the count up to 1,019, but Region 9 saw a drop from 27 to 24 hospitalizations. Region 1 in Northwestern Oregon and includes Portland still has more than half of the hospitalizations with 517.
The county vaccine rate is at 71.5% of adults, 66.7% with a complete series and 37.6% with boosters.
