Wallowa County passes 970 COVID cases

SALEM — The Oregon Health Authority reported 13 more new COVID-19 cases in Wallowa County in its report Thursday, Jan. 20, bringing the total to 972 for the pandemic, and in the last seven days to 96. There are were no new deaths in the county in the report, with the total staying at 13. 

Statewide, there were 10,034 cases, the third time there have been at least 10,000 reported cases in a single day. There were eight new COVID-19 deaths statewide.

Region 9 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 reached 27, currently lower than the peak of 43 reached during the delta spike. Region 1, in the Northwestern portion of the state, has surpassed its total from the delta spike and is currently accounting for more than half of COVID hospitalizations (516 out of 981).

The county vaccine rate has ticked up to 71.5% of adults, 66.7% with a complete series and 37.5% with boosters.
